Last Saturday, around 50 children from our primary school enjoyed a very special highlight. They enthusiastically took part in the Struwwelpeter Run as part of the Frankfurt Marathon. Together with around 1,700 other young runners, they lined up at the starting line and transformed Frankfurt city centre into a colourful field of sporting energy and happy faces.
Our school's participation was organised by the sports teacher and sports coordinator together with the primary school principal, who is herself a passionate marathon runner. With a great deal of commitment and passion, they ensured that the children were well prepared and motivated when they took to the starting line.
The Struwwelpeter Run offers children aged five to nine the opportunity to complete a 420-metre course. Just like the grown-ups, they are accompanied by the cheers of the spectators and the unique atmosphere of Germany's oldest city marathon.
With beaming faces, proud parents and lots of applause, our young runners reached the finish line and proved once again that sporting ambition, team spirit and the joy of exercise are an integral part of our school community.
We are proud of all the participants and would like to thank the entire organising team for their efforts.
