The children's and young adult author Sabine Ludwig will be a guest in the library of our grammar school on Wednesday, October 23, starting at 6 pm. As part of the Phorms library evenings, the renowned Dressler Verlag author will be reading from her young adult novel "Schwarze Häuser" (Black Houses).
Ludwig, who lives and works in Berlin, is best known for her books about the fabulous English teacher "Miss Braitwhistle" and her novel "Hilfe, Ich habe meine Lehrerin geschrumpft", which was made into a film in 2015.
In "Schwarze Häuser" (Black Houses), the author addresses a relatively rarely discussed topic in German post-war history in a haunting and exciting way: the state sending of children from socially disadvantaged families in need of recreation to vacation homes on the North Sea coast, among other places.
After the reading, Sabine Ludwig will be available for questions and discussions. Pupils and parents of the grammar school as well as anyone else interested in literature are cordially invited. As usual for all library evenings, juice, wine and small snacks will be offered.
