Every two years, the “ARD-Woche der Musik“ takes a close look at a famous composer. In 2023 this is György Ligeti – on the occasion of his 100th birthday. He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century. To this day, his works can still be found in the cinema as film music. Across Germany, ARD orchestras and ensembles invite you to explore this extraordinary music together. The connecting element of the upcoming “ARD-Woche der Musik“ is a nationwide school project: the Metronome Challenge. (ARD)
In cooperation with the Phorms Campus Frankfurt City and the Strothoff International School in Dreieich, a concert / presentation on the subject of Ligeti / Time will take place on Thursday, 23 March 2023, at the Phorms Taunus Campus in Steinbach, Waldstraße 91. In addition to musical contributions, artistic, linguistic and scientific approaches to time and its effects will be provided. Ligeti’s Poème Symphonique for 100 Metronomes will feature on the programme. The first challenge for the schools is to procure the 100 (mechanical) metronomes needed for the performance. All members of the school community are addressed. Those classes and individual students who collect the most metronomes will receive free tickets to a concert of the hr-Symphony Orchestra or the hr-Big Band, which we will attend together.
Corresponding information was distributed to the three schools. School heads and music teachers are informed about the project. Presentation contributions are welcome. All grades are invited to attend.
Questions about the project can be directed by e-mail to the project manager: Dr. Knut Eckhardt (music teacher at Phorms Taunus Campus): knut.eckhardt@phorms.de.
