Students from Philadelphia visiting Phorms

Eleven students and two supporters of Friends select from Phildalephia visited us at the Phorms gymnasium Steinbach from the 21st to the 31nd of March. After students from our school had traveled to the USA last year, the return visit gave the existing partnership another important impulse. The joint program included a visit to the Frankfurt Römer, the new old town and the “Eiserner Steg”, a stroll along the Museumsufer, the Palmengarten and the Goethe Museum. On two days, the students took part in lessons in our high school and experienced the regular school life in Germany. Together with Ms. Lafko we went to Berlin for two days to give our guests the opportunity to experience aspects of German history - such as the cold war phase and the reunification - directly on site. At the end of the second week our guests drove together with our students to Strasbourg. With this excursion we were able to bring our american friends closer to the European perspective of Germany.

At this point I would like to express my gratitude to all the hosts, particularly to Ms. Lafko from our elementary school, who has organized the entire exchange with passion.
