The year two classes at Phorms Primary School in Steinbach have undertaken a very special project: Red mason bees are to move into the outdoor area of the Phorms Taunus Campus. In the photo slideshow, you can see the new home waiting expectantly for the first bees.
Red mason bees are peace-loving and perfect for a school in a forest or field edge habitat. They are wild bees that particularly like native wild flowers. The children and their parents have therefore found out exactly what their protégés will need. Flowering fruit trees, wild roses and willows are also on the wild bees' menu. Only if the bees find enough food will they stay on site.
A lot of soil is needed to provide a rich supply of forage plants directly in the school garden. A big thank you goes to our parents, our teaching staff and everyone else who has already put a lot together!
